Workbench keeps Notes, Projects, and Props in the side panel. Capture pages, links, and text from the web; everything stays on this device until you export or back up.
Under Add ▾ → Clip from page: Link & title (bookmark-style), Screenshot of the visible area, Full scroll (stitched captures, long pages capped), Page text, or Selected text (select on the page first). Quick capture (Alt+Shift+N) uses link & title. Right‑click → Clip page to Workbench note saves a link clip. Use Clips only in the Notes filter to see clips together.
Type [[Note title]] to link to another note. While typing after [[, a list of matching notes appears. Open Note options on a note to see backlinks and unresolved links.
Appear under Add in Notes with the built-in templates. Use simple HTML (headings, lists, paragraphs).
Download all notes as one Markdown file (plain text from each note, with YAML front matter per note).
Background, surfaces, and text contrast across Workbench.
Buttons, tags, highlights, and focus rings across Workbench.
Toggle what appears on each project card.
Deleted notes, projects, and props stay here until you restore or delete forever.
Desktop Chrome can link a backup folder with full read/write access—including Google Drive when your computer exposes it to the browser. iPhone and iPad use Apple’s Files picker instead; locations like Google Drive are often greyed out there. That restriction comes from iOS/WebKit, not Workbench. On mobile, link a folder under iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, or use Export backup / Backup now → Share and save workbench-backup.json into Drive yourself. iOS also can’t silently write into a linked folder the way desktop Chrome can—use Share or download, then replace the file in Files. Backup now on iPhone/iPad opens a save sheet when the browser supports it: choose your iCloud folder and replace workbench-backup.json. Otherwise use Share → Save to Files, or the download fallback for very large backups.
Export to keep a portable copy or move data to a new device.
These actions cannot be undone.
Version
Workbench does not sync your content to our servers. Projects, notes, props, and backups stay on this device unless you export them or choose a local backup folder.
These open or control Workbench from any tab. Chrome assigns the keys below; use Customize shortcuts to change them (Workbench cannot set them from this panel).
Save something from the browser without leaving your flow.
